TimeXtender continues the cloud transformation with Microsoft Azure
TimeXtender moves their IT infrastructure from traditional hosting to Microsoft Azure.
Since its startup in 2006, TimeXtenders IT strategy has been to outsource all IT operations and solutions to the cloud if possible and profitable. Therefore, TimeXtender uses different standard cloud solutions like Office 365, Hubspot and Podio. Their IT infrastructure was outsourced to traditional hosting, however TimeXtender now takes the next step in their cloud transformation by moving the entire company's IT infrastructure from hosting into the cloud with Microsoft Azure.
Access to the Data Center from US
Before moving to Microsoft Azure, TimeXtenders employees and customers in the United States experienced long response time and latency when accessing the Data Center in Denmark. This led to poor user experience, which was an issue, as several customers request access to TimeXtenders solutions based in the Data Center.
Additionally, TimeXtender wanted increased flexibility and agility in their IT infrastructure due to their aggressive growth strategy and competitive industry. As an example, TimeXtender facilitates Business Intelligence training, where they need to provision new servers both in Denmark and in the US for a limited period. Thus, the cost per user model in Azure and the fast provisioning was an ideal solution.
Infrastructure as a Service
ProActive has moved all servers and data from TimeXtenders hosted Data Center to Microsoft’s cloud, where Azure Services has replaced local servers. The mobile users access data in Azure through VPN and securely over the Internet. Development and training also benefits from Azure now, where the ability to have virtual machines running for limited hours has reduced operating costs.
Enhanced flexibility and user experience at the same price
The solution means that TimeXtender experiences increased flexibility as well as improved connection to their Data Center from outside Denmark. Specifically, the satisfaction from the employees outside the HQ in Denmark has increased, with a better user experience and the ability to achieve more in the same time.
“Azure allow us to work more agile and expand our business stack without additional IT costs” states CTO Thomas Lørup Duun and continues: “The payment model in Azure ensures that we can grow fast without compromising our IT performance, user experience and budget”.
Economically, TimeXtender has the same monthly operating costs in Azure, as in their previous hosting agreement, despite the number of employees is growing double digit a month and the flexibility has increased.
