Grundfos is transforming their business with Microsoft technology

Grundfos supports their digital transformation with Microsoft technology

As part of a digital transformation strategy, Grundfos is in the process of adapting their business from being a traditional supplier of water pumps to a total supplier of entire ecosystems. This way, Grundfos' digital transformation takes place as a natural development and extension of the core business, where digitalisation must support Grundfos' strategic direction with completely new services to customers.

Grundfos consolidates data centers in Microsoft Azure

Grundfos has chosen to consolidate two out of a total of three physical data centers into a single Microsoft Azure data center in a global Cloud Lift & Shift project called "Azure 3-2-1". The overall purpose of the project is to establish a much more flexible and agile IT infrastructure. It will bring significant performance improvements in all regions, and will allow new cloud-based data centers to be created in just 45 minutes.

"Migration to Azure enables us to shift focus from ownership and management of data centers, infrastructure hardware and software, to take advantage of cloud services in order to deliver an enhanced experience for our end users,.
Morten Bacher Mortensen, IS Microsoft Operations, Grundfos Holding A / S, says.

Industry: Manufacturing - Mechanical engineering.
Core business: Pump manufactoring.
Employees: 19.000+.
Geo: Asia pacific, Americas & EMEA.
Workload migrated: DNS, DHCP,  dekstop applications, web applications, Microsoft SQL Server, SQL managed instance & MySQL.

Automated processes with Microsoft Flow (Power Automate)

ProActive has also helped Grundfos with migrating and streamlining a number of existing and relatively complex workflows, by automating various business processes with Microsoft Flow.

In a global organization like Grundfos, it is important to have a common accessible platform for automation. Grundfos already had a workflow automation tool, but in order to achieve significant savings on software, they wanted to replace it with Microsoft Flow, which is included in their Office 365 subscription.

The processes are part of a Grundfos' SharePoint based Quality Management system, which contains the company's business processes, procedures, templates, etc.

The documents are handled by a number of selected Document Handlers appointed in each company on a global scale. Document Handlers has a number of supporting digital workflows available that handle phases in the document lifecycle, including review, approvals, releases, archiving, versioning, expiration and permissions.

"The collaboration with ProActive has worked perfectly. The combination of our business needs and ProActive's technical understanding of SharePoint and PowerApps, has really created a usable and easily accessible system. The constructive and flexible approach throughout the project has also been a necessity in a project, in which three systems from three organizations and even more disciplines are combined into one system."
