Microsoft Azure is a platform that enables you to run your company's IT systems and applications in the cloud, just like in your own data center. The difference is that it runs in Microsoft's data centers on Microsoft's Azure virtualization platform. This allows traditional virtual machines to run - Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) such as SQL Azure, Web Apps, Azure Backup in a single infrastructure.
In addition, Microsoft offers a complete underlying infrastructure with storage, networking, firewall and VPN, which enables your company to move all or part of your existing data center to the Microsoft Azure platform.
Microsoft also offers Express Route, which is a dedicated connection directly from the customer to the Azure data center. Microsoft Azure Guests (virtual machines) not only support Microsoft software (Windows Server 2008 R2 or later) but also Linux (CentOS, Debian, Oracle, Red Hat Enterprise, SUSE, Ubuntu) and VM Appliances (e.g. 3-party firewalls).
Microsoft Azure is based on post-consumer payment, so you do not pay for any unused resources. Thus, everything can be settled according to real consumption, and not as in a traditional data center where it is after investments in hardware, power, cooling and location. Thus, keywords like scalability and resilience can actually become part of your daily operations.
Because Microsoft operates their Azure data centers globally, resources can be placed closest to the users who will use them. Microsoft complies with all data security rules, including Safe Harbor, EU, ISO. This allows your company to safely put data into the cloud.
Data can be transported to and from Azure via physical disks, making it possible to get large amounts of data in and out of Azure quickly and easily, e.g. for Azure onboarding or longterm offsite backups without having to use VPN or Express Route.
Microsoft Azure is your new data center located in the EU with full access to your data and full administrative access and control on a platform that thousands of customers already use.
Move your company's data and applications into the cloud for increased flexibility and great savings on operations and software licenses.
